‘Getting to Grips’ is a one-day Children in Wales course, which develops the themes of our highly successful ‘Bigger Picture’ half day workshops delivered across Wales in December and January, through funding from the Welsh Government. The course will support people from a wide range of organisations to understand the distinctive Welsh lesiglative and policy framework for children and families, that has developed as a result of increasing devolution from Westminster.
The training will consider current Welsh legislation around children and families, Welsh Government policy and strategies on issues including how children’s rights are being addressed through initiatives on child poverty, health, social care and education. The course will explore Welsh government programmes including Families First, Flying Start, Communities First and Integrated Family Support considering the roles and priorities of different sectors involved in delivering these, and the challenges faced by everyone.
