A one-day Children in Wales course
Touch is an essential aspect of many support roles with children, adult physical contact is not only inevitable but beneficial. However any practitioners are unclear and anxious about using touch in a work environment. This course will allow participants to explore when touch is appropriate for their role and how this can be carried out in a transparent way that is accountable and supports safe working practices. Appropriate touch not only promotes a child’s social and emotional development but is also a highly effective and powerful method of non-verbal communication and is key to the development of healthy relationships. Touch must be child centred not staff centred and should meet with the requirements of safeguarding.
