This NewLink Wales course is suitable for professionals and volunteers in the sector who wish to gain awareness and understanding on the subject area (Level 1).

This course looks to set out tools to assist maintaining professional boundaries within the working environment. It has been developed for staff that work closely with individuals within their organisations or agencies to show the importance of developing an appropriate relationship that does not run the risk of exploiting power or yielding inappropriate power to an individual. It looks at maintaining professional practices and showing respect for individuals and their personal surroundings and information.

Learning outcomes:
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  1. Define what confidentiality and boundaries are.
  2. Explain procedures and consequences surrounding confidentiality and boundaries.
  3. Identify professional practices.
  4. Communicate in ways that can be understood by individuals, responding to their different needs, abilities and preferences.

Lunch is provided.

NewLink Wales Training Team: All trainers are experienced practitioners who have worked directly with individuals who misuse substances. They are also qualified assessors who maintain a high level of contact with the substance misuse sector.
