Alcohol and Older People Workshop

Target Group: This course is suitable for anyone who potentially would have contact with this group of people.
 
Course Specifications: This course specifically looks at the risks, harms and dangers associated with alcohol consumption for older people. The main aim of the course will be to allow participants to explore the holistic approach of harm reduction and explore every aspect of someone’s alcohol consumption and how we sign post appropriately.  

Learning outcomes:
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  1. Gain an in depth knowledge about alcohol. Consider the reasons for consuming alcohol; The Who, What, Why principle.
  2. Calculate units competently against consumed alcoholic drinks
  3. List side effects of excessive drinking and note the different risks associated with different age ranges.
  4. Confidentially talk about individual’s alcohol consumption and identify key harm reduction techniques

NewLink Wales Training Team: All trainers are experienced practitioners who have worked directly with individuals who misuse substances. They are also qualified assessors who maintain a high level of contact with the substance misuse sector.
