Dechrau chwilio am weithwyr gofal sy’n darparu gofal rhagorol trwy gyfrwng y Gymraeg

socialcarenormicym

Gwahoddir enwebiadau am wobr newydd i gydnabod a dathlu gweithwyr gofal sydd wedi gwneud gwahaniaeth i fywydau pobl trwy ddarparu gofal a chymorth yn Gymraeg.

Mae’r wobr Gofalu trwy’r Gymraeg yn agored i unrhyw weithwyr gofal cyflogedig sy’n gweithio ym maes gofal cymdeithasol neu flynyddoedd cynnar a gofal plant yng Nghymru, ac sy’n darparu gofal rhagorol trwy gyfrwng y Gymraeg.

Mae Gofal Cymdeithasol Cymru yn gwahodd aelodau o'r cyhoedd, cyflogwyr a phobl sy’n gweithio yn y maes gofal i enwebu gweithiwr gofal.

Bydd angen i unrhyw un sydd â diddordeb mewn enwebu gweithiwr gofal llenwi ffurflen enwebu, gan ddweud mewn 250 o eiriau neu lai pam mae’r gweithiwr yn haeddu cael ei gydnabod a pha wahaniaeth mae wedi’i wneud i fywyd neu fywydau’r person neu’r bobl sy’n cael cymorth ganddo neu ganddi.

Gall y gweithiwr fod yn siarad Cymraeg yn rhugl, siarad ychydig neu’n dysgu, a does dim angen iddo neu iddi fod o safon benodol, cyn belled â’i fod yn defnyddio'r iaith wrth ddarparu gofal a chymorth.

Cytunir rhestr fer o enwebeion gan banel o feirniaid, ac wedyn gwahoddir y cyhoedd i bleidleisio am y gweithiwr maent yn credu y dylai ennill y wobr, a fydd yn cael ei gyflwyno yn yr Eisteddfod Genedlaethol yn Llanrwst ar ddydd Mawrth, 6 Awst 2019.

Dywedodd Sue Evans, Prif Weithredwr Gofal Cymdeithasol Cymru: “I bobl y mae’n well ganddynt siarad Cymraeg neu sydd â'r Gymraeg yn iaith gyntaf iddynt, mae cael gofal a chymorth gan rywun sy’n siarad eu hiaith yn rhan bwysig o ofal o ansawdd da, sy'n llawn urddas.

“Gall hyd yn oed ychydig o eiriau o Gymraeg gwneud gwahaniaeth enfawr i’r rhai sy’n derbyn gofal a chymorth.

“Gobeithio y bydd y wobr newydd hon nid yn unig yn rhoi sylw i weithwyr sy'n darparu gofal rhagorol trwy gyfrwng y Gymraeg, ond hefyd yn codi ymwybyddiaeth o'r angen am fwy o bobl sy'n gallu siarad yr iaith i weithio yn y maes gofal.”

Bydd angen i unrhyw un sy’n enwebu gweithiwr gofal sicrhau bod y gweithiwr gofal yn hapus i gael ei enwebu cyn cyflwyno’r cais oherwydd bydd Gofal Cymdeithasol Cymru yn defnyddio ei stori a lluniau i roi cyhoeddusrwydd i'r wobr, ac i hybu manteision a phwysigrwydd darparu gofal a chymorth trwy gyfrwng y Gymraeg.

Dylai unrhyw un sydd â diddordeb mewn enwebu gweithiwr gofal, lawrlwytho a llenwi ffurflen enwebu sydd ar gael ar wefan Gofal Cymdeithasol Cymru yn https://gofalcymdeithasol.cymru/straeon-newyddion/dechrau-chwilio-am-weithwyr-gofal-syn-darparu-gofal-rhagorol-drwy-gyfrwng-y-gymraeg, a’i hanfon:

Search begins for care workers providing excellent care through the medium of Welsh

socialcarnomiseng

Nominations are now open for a new award to recognise and celebrate care workers who’ve made a difference to people’s lives by providing care and support in Welsh.

The Caring in Welsh award is open to any paid care workers who work in social care or early years and childcare in Wales, and who provide excellent care through the medium of Welsh.

Social Care Wales is inviting members of the public, employers and those working in care to nominate a care worker.

Anyone interested in nominating a care worker will need to complete a nomination form, letting Social Care Wales know in no more than 250 words why the worker deserves to be recognised and the difference they have made to the life or lives of the person or people they support.

The worker can be a fluent Welsh speaker, know a little Welsh or be a learner, and they don’t have to be of a certain standard, as long as they use the language when providing care and support.

A shortlist of nominees will be agreed by a panel of judges and the public will then be invited to vote for the worker they think should win the award, which will be presented at the National Eisteddfod in Llanrwst on Tuesday 6 August 2019.

Sue Evans, Chief Executive of Social Care Wales, said: “For people who prefer to speak Welsh or for whom Welsh is their first language, getting care and support from someone who can speak their language is an important part of dignified, high-quality care.

“Even just a few words of Welsh can make a huge difference to those who are receiving care and support.

“We’re hoping this new award will not only shine a light on those workers who are providing excellent care through the medium of Welsh, but will also raise awareness of the need for more people who can speak the language to work in care.”

Anyone nominating a care worker will need to make sure the care worker is happy to be nominated before submitting their entry, as Social Care Wales will be using their story and images to help publicise the award, and promote the benefits and importance of providing care and support through the medium of Welsh.

Those interested in nominating a care worker should download and complete the nomination form available on Social Care Wales’s website at https://socialcare.wales/news-stories/search-begins-for-care-workers-providing-excellent-care-through-the-medium-of-welsh, then send it:

  • via email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
  • by post to Caring in Welsh, Social Care Wales, South Gate House, Wood Street, Cardiff CF10 1EW.

For more information, contact Social Care Wales via the routes above or on Twitter @socialcarewales or on Facebook at facebook.com/carecareerswales

The closing date for nominations is 3 July 2019.
