National Living Wage Rise on April 1st 2019
As of April 1st 2019, the Government’s ‘National Living Wage’ rises to £8.21 for over 25’s. Despite this, NLW workers are over £1500 worse off than workers on the real Living Wage. In fact, an employee on the new government NLW rate of £8.21 has to work 25 additional days a year to earn the same as workers on the real Living Wage, which is calculated against the real cost of Living.
18-20 year olds paid the new government NLW rate of £8.21 miss out on over £5k compared to those worker’s receiving the real Living Wage based on the real cost of living.
