ITV Apprenticeship - ITV News Cymru (Cardiff)-170001GL

UK-Wales-Cardiff

ITV Apprenticeships - ITV Cymru Wales

Cardiff

ITV Cymru Wales has been providing award-winning news and current affairs programmes for more than 50 years. And we’re very proud of it. Our flagship news programme, Wales at Six, reaches a half a million viewers a week and thousands more connect with us online to get the latest, breaking news from Wales’s most popular commercial broadcaster.

Our apprentices work full time from Monday to Friday although over time the junior journalist may shadow colleagues who work shifts which include earlies, lates and weekends. You'll be working alongside industry professionals to provide support to the news and programmes teams in Wales. You can choose from:

ITV News - Journalist

Working with our talented team of journalists you’ll learn how to generate and produce news stories for ITV News Wales and our digital platforms. By the end of the apprenticeship you’ll know how to identify a story, carry out the necessary research and interviews, appreciate more about how to write a story for social media and start to understand the ethics and law in relation to News.

Qualification: Creative & Digital Media: Media Creation, Production and Craft Support (Diploma, Level 3)

ITV News - Team Assistant

As the team assistant you will support the Production Co-ordinator and the news and programmes team with a wide variety of tasks such as booking travel and accommodation and dealing with post.  You will assist with setting up meetings and production tasks as required. Previous apprentices in this role have progressed into production areas.

Qualification: Creative & Digital Media: Media Creation, Production and Craft Support (Diploma, Level 3)

For more detail check the ITV Careers Facebook page to help you choose which role is right for you. You may also follow us @ITVCareers Twitter and @ITVentrycareers on Instagram for more Apprentice tasters and useful info.

What we’re looking for

Talent is important to us. We're looking for people with creativity, resourcefulness and initiative. You’ll be a team player, who can learn quickly and can prioritise your workload.  Applicants for the Team Assistant apprenticeships will be an administrative and organisational whizz, with a ‘can-do’ attitude and the ability to communicate well at all levels. If you’re looking to be a junior journalist you’ll need to have an inquisitive mind and be really interested in real people and their stories. In all our roles you’ll learn valuable skills that will really help you in your future career. You will love ITV and want to grab all the opportunities we will put in front of you.  And there will be many!

Eligibility

Due to the nature of this apprenticeship, it would suit school/college leavers from 16 years of age; you are only eligible to apply if:

·  You have lived within the UK/EEA for a minimum of 3 years consecutively

·  You have at least a Level 1 qualification in Maths and English (GCSE or equivalent, grade D or above)

·  You have not completed, or part completed, a degree or other Level 4 qualification

·  You do not already hold a Level 3 qualification in the same subject

·  You have not already completed an Apprenticeship

·  For our Cardiff based roles you will need to reside in Wales

What you’ll get

You’ll receive a salary of £12,000  and a year of valuable training in the workplace.  Your commitment to learning will be recognised; ITV Apprentices work towards a nationally recognised qualification in Creative & Digital Media: Media Creation, Production and Craft Support (Diploma, Level 3), so this opportunity is specifically for people just starting out (we accept applications from aged 16), without a degree or Level 4 qualification.  We offer apprentices a personal development programme and additional support, so this is more than just a job.

If you are shortlisted to the second stage of the recruitment, you will be invited to attend an assessment workshop in Cardiff on either 27th or 28th July (Subject to change) . Interviews will be arranged following on from this.

Our people are our greatest asset and, as an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds to work both in front of and behind the cameras.

"ITV, where creativity, diversity and collaboration put us right at the heart of popular culture."

The programme will start on the 11th September 2017 followed by a three week placement at Pinewood Studios Wales

Applications close on Sunday 25th June 2017.
