“Dewis is the National Citizen portal for Well-being information for Wales”

Dewis is currently operational only in North Wales; the North Wales version can be viewed at www.dewis.wales. Cardiff and the Vale region is hoping to be the first outside of North Wales to adopt Dewis.

Dewis has 2 parts. The first is a narrative content, to help people identify their own needs; the second part is the resource directory. The resource directory has all services on an equal footing; a resource can be a lunch club or a commissioned service. As part of the development they have developed the search facility with feedback to make improvements.

The resource directory includes a range of resources; these may be Community services, Health services, Local Authority services, Third Sector services as well as commercial services.

Entries in the Resource Directory include a large amount of information:

  • What is it?
  • Who is it for?
  • Is there a cost? If so how much?
  • How to contact?
  • Where the resource is? Geographical area covered (currently down to Ward level, maybe possible to go to LSOA level)

There is a Welsh language option but there is no automatic translation, so organisations have to do their own translation and enter services twice (once in English and one in Welsh).

Services can receive feedback directly which is not published on Dewis itself, but if a score out of 5 is given this shows on Dewis.

Each resource will have to be reviewed at least twice a year, though this can be more frequently if you decide. Reminder emails will be sent when any resources you have logged on Dewis are due to be reviewed.

The aim is for Dewis to be launched in Cardiff and the Vale by the 6 April 2016. There will be lots more information coming out, including the opportunity to find out how to get involved and upload information about your services (resources) to Dewis.

As Health and Social Care Facilitators, we will do our best to keep you updated on any new developments.
