Global Grangetown hosts holiday weekend event – Music On The Marl
Friday, 24 August 2012, 12:00pm - 06:00pm

Young musicians and DJs will be showcasing their talents in a Global Grangetown afternoon at The Marl to kick off Bank Holiday weekend.

Together with lead partners Sound Progression and the Somali Integration Society, Cardiff Third Sector Council (C3SC) is staging the event on Friday 24th August (12 noon - 6pm).

But the programme will be entirely run by young people from the area.

The day's entertainment will be hosted by members of REMIX - the South Cardiff Youth Forum - with musical performances from the V-Pod Mobile Music Stage. The young presenters received coaching from top broadcasting trainers from Radio Cardiff, while the performers are being mentored by staff from Sound Progression - youth workers experienced in the music industry. The music will be from a variety of styles and genres, reflecting the diverse talents of Grangetown's young people, and between live performances the crowd will be entertained by young DJs. Organisers say it promises to be a great celebration of talent and community togetherness.

Anyone who wants to perform on the day can contact: Paul Lyons of Sound Progression on 07870 962009.

C3SC has been working in the lower Grangetown area on a 'Communities First' project since 2008. Bringing people together to share and celebrate their cultures has been an important part of this work, and C3SC has worked in partnership with a broad range of local community groups and organisations under the umbrella name 'Global Grangetown'.
