Walk Ten for Marie Curie Nurses
- Friday, 03 August 2012
This weekend will see Marie Curie Cancer Care hold its Walk Ten at Margam Country Park with 400 walkers expected to take part. The event, which is in its second year, has a brand new route, entertainment, fireworks and a hog roast and is going to be a fun-filled evening for the whole family, supported by Homeserve.
Taking place on Saturday 4th of August, the event is a 10km twilight walk around the country park, taking in some of the most beautiful parts including the highest point and the orangery.
With just a few days to go you can still take part, you can register on the night for £20 per adult (children under 16years go free) so bring along the whole family and enjoy the grounds at Margam whilst supporting your local Marie Curie Cancer Care nurses. The walk starts from 7pm and registration opens at 6pm, so give yourself enough time to enter if you decide to come along on the night.
Claire Notman, Regional Events Fundraiser said “We have smashed our aim of having 300 walkers take part in the event as we are now on course to have over 400 people. This is a fantastic result for Marie Curie Cancer Care and we cannot wait till the event is here so that everyone can come along, enjoy the evening and support local Marie Curie Cancer Care nurses. We are also grateful to Payton Jewell Caines for supporting the event and 13 of their staff will be joining us on the night to walk 10km by 10pm.”
Under 16s walk for free with a paying adult and dogs are welcome too (as long as they don’t mind staying on the lead and you are aware there will be fireworks at 10pm). All the funds raised will allow Marie Curie Nurses to provide more hours of care, totally free, for terminally ill people in their own homes and in the charity’s hospices.
