Draft Welsh language standards out for consultation
- Monday, 30 July 2012
Third sector organisations are encouraged to respond to the Welsh Language Commissioner’s nonstatutory consultation on the draft Welsh Language Standards.
The principal aim of the Office of the Welsh Language Commissioner, an independent organisation established by the Welsh Lanaguage (Wales) Measure 2011, is to promote and facilitate the use of the Welsh language.
This will entail raising awareness of the official status of the Welsh language in Wales and
imposing Standards on organisations. This, in turn, will lead to the establishment of rights for Welsh speakers.
The aim of this consultation on draft Standards is to provide an opportunity for anyone to give their opinion on the Standards and what is to be achieved by way of Standards.
The deadline date for responses is 11 August 2012. The consultation document can be found on the Welsh Language Commissioner's website.
