Resources for those supporting individuals with autism to find employment

ASD Aware Scheme
An online learning resource for those wanting to develop a basic understanding of Autism. After viewing the e learning, you can access the ASD aware certification scheme. Within the
scheme you will be asked to complete answers to a series of 20 questions. If you successfully answer all 20 questions a personalised certificate will be created for you to download and
print.

 

Working with Autism Scheme
This online scheme aims to increase knowledge and awareness of the needs of individuals with autism amongst those who are supporting them to secure employment. You can view the e learning in video, powerpoint or PDF formats. After viewing the e learning, you can access the Working with Autism certification scheme. Within the scheme you will be asked to complete answers to a series of 20 questions. If you successfully answer all 20 questions a personalised certificate will be created for you to download and print.

 

Autism: A Guide for Those Supporting Adults Following Diagnosis
This guide has been developed to provide those who support adults with autism with information, advice and sources of further information. It can be downloaded in PDF format, or is available in hard copy from your local ASD lead.

 

Tools and resources for those seeking employment

Searching for Work Tool
This tool provides you with a structured approach to searching and applying for work. After entering your information and preferences you will have the option of downloading lists of your essential job criteria and preferences, skills and knowledge and experience which can then be used to help you with job searches and applications. This tool interacts with the CV builder tool, meaning that any information entered will also be used to populate your CV. Within this tool, you will also find helpful information in relation to all aspects of your job search. (you will need to create an account to use this tool)

 

Personal Skills Builder
Use this tool to develop your own personal skills list. After selecting your skills they will be displayed as the common phrases used in job descriptions. Your list can be downloaded for printing and can be used to help you with your job search. (you will need to create an account to use this tool)

 

CV Builder
This CV builder tool interacts with the personal skills builder and searching for work tool, and can either be populated from information entered within these tools or by direct information entry. After entering the information requested, the tool will generate your CV in a Microsoft Word format which can then be printed or saved. (you will need to create an account to
use this tool)

 

Skills Dictionary
Here you will find a useful tool that can be used to search the meaning of common figurative language phrases used within job adverts and descriptions.
