“What the heck is going on with Communities First?”
- Wednesday, 25 January 2012
Adam Rees, Communities First Officer at C3SC, answers the question...
"I get asked this question quite a lot at the moment! The Government has presented a number of different versions for the next phase of Communities First since they announced a change in July last year. We are still uncertain of some details but all Communities First projects in Cardiff are working together to make sure we continue to provide support for the most disadvantaged communities.
What we do know is this:
- "The main aim of the new Communities First will be to tackle poverty in the most disadvantaged areas of Wales.
- "The three main outcomes will be to improve Education, Health and Prosperity (Work).
- Cardiff’s current 12 Communities First areas will be merged into four or five 'clusters', which will have more flexible boundaries.
- "Each cluster will need a 'Community Involvement Plan' that makes sure community members have their say in how Communities First runs in their area throughout the three years.
"Keep an eye on our Communities First pages of our website for more information."
